Yakult Danone India launches its probiotic drink in Mumbai

After entering the health drinks market in Chandigarh, Delhi and Jaipur, Yakult Danone India, the joint venture between Japanese health drink manufacturer Yakult Honsha and French Groupe Danone, launched its probiotic fermented milk drink, Yakult, in Mumbai this week.
The brand ambassador of the drink, Bollywood actress Kajol Devgan, launched the drink at a ceremony held at Taj Lands End, in the presence of Kiyoshi Oike, managing director, Yakult Danone India.
Speaking at the launch, Oike said, ''The positive response from Delhi-NCR, Chandigarh, Jaipur and Punjab has urged us to widen our foothold in the country.''
Probiotics are dietary supplements of live microorganisms that are considered to promote healthy living.
Yakult contains unique beneficial bacteria (lactobacillus casei strain Shirota) that reach the intestines alive in good numbers and suppress the growth of harmful bacteria, said the company press release. According to the company, daily consumption of Yakult helps to improve digestion, and builds immunity.
Brand ambassador Kajol said, ''Given the hectic modern day lifestyle and increased susceptibility to infections, a probiotic drink like Yakult will go a long way in providing us the much needed protection.''
