Italian cuisine ranks foremost among tourists of various nationalities while the Indian palate makes inroads at fifth.
A gastronomy survey conducted by website portal Hotels.com has found that Aussies, Brits, Dutch, Kiwis are all lured by the Indian palate while the French prefer Indian food over Chinese, Japanese, Spanish and even Greek cuisine.
Asian counterparts, Koreans and Japanese, however, the survey revealed, seem to prefer Indian food the least.
Italian cuisine, renowned for its pizza and pasta, was ranked as the most popular fare among the survey respondents worldwide, followed by French, Thai, Chinese and Indian food.
Indians rank Chinese food the second best after Indian fare, a fact which the company says is augmented by the presence of numerous streetside Chinese restaurants in the country.
