Los Angeles Times has redesigned its site making it easier to read and use. The site, called latimes.com has expanded the blog network.

Key changes include:

  • Streamlined navigation at the top of every page, highlighting main coverage areas such as local news, sports and entertainment. The idea is to make it easier to get around the site from wherever you are.
  • Right below the black navigation bar, in the ''In the News'' section, readers will find quick access to big stories being followed up by the paper.
  • The new modular approach to the homepage means quicker access to multimedia packages of the news of most interest to the reader.
  • The video player has improved, with faster-loading video and more sharing features.
  • The articles have been simplified, making them easier to scroll without interruption from related content or advertising. The article-sharing features have been enhanced to include more seamless interaction with social-networking sites and the ability to send articles to instant-messaging services and mobile devices.

The site has gone from a sans-serif font (Arial) to a serif font (Georgia) since readers found it a more readable font.
