The Central Bureau of Investigation today Monday raided the Commonwealth Games (CWG) organising committee office in New Delhi in connection with corruption allegations and registered two cases in connection with alleged irregularities during the Queen's Baton's Relay in London, officials said.
"Teams of CBI are conducting raids at the organising committee office near Jantar Mantar and the houses of several officials of the committee," a CBI official told the media.
The two cases were registered against London-based AM Films and AM Car, which had been given contracts related to the Queen's Baton Relay.
The first case is against London-based AM Car-Van Hire Ltd, its owner Ashish Patel, Darbari, Mahendroo and Singh under various sections of the Indian Penal Code and Prevention of Corruption Act dealing with forgery, cheating and abuse of official position.
The second is registered against Patel, AM Films, Mahendroo, Darbari and others for alleged cheating and criminal conspiracy and abuse of official position, CBI officials said.
The residence of Darbari, joint director general of the Commonwealth Games organising committee, Mahendroo, OC deputy director-general, and Raj Singh, a director-level officer in the OC, were raided.
The 3-14 October Commonwealth Games held in the capital were enshrouded in controversy over corruption allegations, glitches and delays.
