Abhishek Industries Triples Capacity

New Delhi: Abhishek Industries Limited (AIL, part of the Rs1,500 crore Trident Group) commissioned its new terry towel plant at Barnala, Punjab. AIL's new plant, claimed by the company to be country's most modern thatr has propelled AIL amongst the top-five terry towel manufacturers in the world.
The unit, inaugurated today, marks completion of the phase-1 of AIL's expansion under which capacity of 14,300 tpa has been added to the existing 8,700 tpa taking the total capacity to 23,000 tpa. Set up at a cost of Rs225 crore, the fully automated unit has resulted in additional employment to the tune of 2000, making AIL the largest single employer in the region.
With the on-going expansion Abhishek Industries has ambitious plans to emerge the largest integrated producer and exporter of terry towels in the world. It also plans to substantially increase its market coverage from across 34 countries. "The capacity expansion has been timed by us to coincide with the lifting of the quota system that constrained growth in exports. We are now fully geared to take advantage of the newly open global markets", says Rajinder Gupta, MD AIL.
