Airlines to add 8,000 cabin crew annually: Frankfinn head
16 Nov 2007
"At the current pace of growth, the aviation industry would require 7,500 to 8,000 cabin crew every year as the collective industry fleet strength is expected to touch 900 from the existing 350 aircraft by 2009," S Ghosh, head (international operations and eastern region) of Frankfinn Institute of Air Hostess Training, said.
The demand for trained crew members is expected to rise by 7-10 times, he said, adding that around 30 trained crew members are required by an airline for a single aircraft.
Ghosh said the aviation sector would create over 40,000 new cabin crew jobs. While the hotel industry and travel agencies are expected to generate over 10 million and 40 million employment opportunities respectively.
He said about 60 students of the Frankfinn Institute here have already been placed in the aviation, hotel, travel and allied services industries. Frankfinn has an exclusive cabin crew recruitment tie-up with Air Deccan.
