New Delhi: As evidence of increasing competition in telecom infrastructure space, the US-based American Tower Corporation, which manages and implements infrastructure such as towers for mobile operators, is all set to enter the Indian market.

The company owns and operates over 22,000 sites in the US, Mexico and Brazil. It also owns about 2,000 revenue producing rooftop and tower sites.

ATC''s entry into India comes at a time when mobile infrastructure companies in India are getting high valuation. Reliance Communication recently hived off a 5-per cent stake in its tower business for nearly Rs 1,400 crore.

As per industry sources, Reliance is looking at further diluting of its stake by around 25 per cent, and is said to be in talks with at least three global majors, including American Tower Corp.

Bharti and Essar have also hived off their telecom infrastructure business into a separate entities.
