Areva to deliver eastern grid sub-station to Power Grid in Bihar

India's central transmission utility Power Grid Corporation has contracted out the construction 765 kV extra high voltage sub-station in Sasaram, Bihar, to Areva T&D, the Indian subsidiary of the French industrial conglomerate and nuclear power giant Areva.
The new sub-station to be built by Areva at a contract value of ts110 crore, is one of the critical sub-stations in the 'eastern grid' of the country and will be located in Sasaram, Bihar.
With this order, Areva T&D India will build eight 765 kV sub-stations out of the 17 awarded by Power Grid to date.
Areva T&D builds high- and medium-voltage substations and develop technologies to manage power grids.
According to Rathin Basu, managing director, Areva, the Indian equipment supplier is developing a country-wide extra and ultra high voltage transmission network in the 765 kV EHV segment.
