B L Jain elected president, J P Nayak vice-president of CMA

Mumbai: Century Cement senior president B L Jain has been elected president of Cement Manufacturers' Association (CMA) at their 41st annual meeting held recently in New Delhi. He earlier served the association as the vice-president.
The association also elected J P Nayak, president (operations) and member of the board, L&T, as the new vice-president.
Jain, a chartered accountant by profession, began his career by joining the BK Birla group way back in 1962 as an accountant with Century Rayon. Ever since then he has served the group in various capacities.
Presently Jain is the wholetime director of Century Textiles and Industries since April 1999 and heads the cement operations of the BK Birla group as the senior president of the three group companies — Century Cement, Maihar Cement and Manikgarh Cement.
Nayak, a mechanical engineer by profession, has successfully completed a graduate study programme in production engineering and computer programming from Mid-Essex College of Technology, Chelmsford, UK.
Popularly known as JP, he has been the chairman of Indian Earthmoving and Construction Industry Association (a division of CII), a member of the Development Council for Earthmoving and Construction Industry as well as the Development Panel for
Hydraulic and Pneumatic industry, constituted by the Government of India, and a member of the State Advisory Labour Board formed by the Government of Karnataka. Presently he is a member of the CII Southern Council.
Established in 1961 with 17 member companies, CMA is the apex body of the cement manufacturers in India. It has been set up with the objective of promoting the growth of the Indian cement industry. Currently CMA has over 50 companies as its members.
