Bail for Kanimozhi and 4 others; no luck for Behura

The Delhi High Court on Monday granted bail to Dravida Munnettra Kazhagam MP M K Kanimozhi and four other accused in the 2G spectrum scam case, while it reserved an order on the bail plea of former telecom secretary Siddharth Behura.
Besides Kanimozhi, bail was granted to Kalaignar TV chief Sharad Kumar, Cineyug Films' Karim Morani, and Kusegaon Fruits and Vegetables Pvt Ltd directors Asif Balwa and Rajeev B Agarwal.
The Delhi High Court, granting the bail, has directed them to furnish two sureties of Rs5 lakh each and ordering them not to leave the country.
On 20 May 2011, Kanimozhi and Sharad Kumar were named co-accused and sent to judicial custody, and Morani on 10 May.
On 23 November 2001, Supreme Court had granted bails to five executives of companies charged in the 2G spectrum scam on two sureties of Rs 5 lakh each. (See: Supreme Court grants bail to five executives in 2G scam)
Conditions set by the Supreme Court while granting bail to the five co-accused and telecom companies' officials will also apply in the case of Kanimozhi and the other four, the High Court said.
