BGR Energy bags Rs.444.48 cr NPCIL contract

BGR Energy Systems today said it has been awarded the electriclals work contract for Nuclear Power Corporation of India's nuclear power plants at Kota in Rajasthan and Kakrapara in Gujarat.
The scope of contract includes supply, erection, testing and commissioning of main plant electrical systems including nuclear island electricals at the 2 x 700 MW kota and Kakrapara plants.
The contracts are scheduled to be completed between September 2015 and March 2016.
V Balakrishnan, president and CEO of electrical projects division of BGR said that this was the single biggest order for main plant electricals received by BGR Energy so far.
BGR Energy Limited is in the manufacturing business of Distribution and Power Transformers having manufacturing base at Pashamylaram from where the distribution and power transformers with Silicon Steel Cores are rolled out.
BRG has a tie up with METGLAS USA for a supply agreement of Amorphous Metal Alloy ribbons for its production of the transformers with Amorphous Metal Alloy Cores. Amorphous Transformers possess non crystalline structure.
BGR was originally incorporated as GEA Energy System (India) Limited in 1985, a joint venture between GEA Energietechnik GmbH, Germany, and the current promoter B G Raghupathy, to manufacture and sell on-line condenser tube cleaning systems, debris filters and rubber cleaning balls used in thermal and nuclear power plants.
In 1993 the German company divested its entire stake to Raghupathy and his family who became the sole shareholder of the company and began to expand the range of product and services range in the power and oil and gas industries. In 2007 the company's name was changed to BGR Energy Systems Limited.
