BGR Energy wins two orders worth $80.5 million from Iraq's SCOP

The oil and gas equipment division of power equipment provider BGR Energy Systems has bagged two orders for $ 80.5 million from the State Company for Oil Projects (SCOP), Iraq.
The projects entail development of two gas fields. The contracts were received through an international competitive bidding process.
The projects would include engineering, procurement and supply of key utilities like gas generators, water system plant and fire and gas detection. This is the fourth order of SCOP to go to BGR Energy.
Earlier, BGR had delivered 45 hydro-carbon tanks for $18 million, and was tied up with the third order for delivering 17 tanks for $9.3 million.
It had also been awarded another contract in 2006 by SCOP for a gas processing complex.
The work on the two oil fields, Akas and Al-Mansuria, is expected to be completed in 18 months.
According to BGR's press release, in October 2006, SCOP had awarded a lump-sum turnkey contract worth $76.60 million to BGR Energy, for design and supply of gas processing complex of Kormor Gas Field Development Project. Due to change in operating parametres, this project could not take off. The new contract replaces the old Kormor deal.
BGR Energy was originally incorporated in 1985, as a joint venture between GEA Energietechnik GmbH, Germany and the promoter, B G Raghupathy. In 1993 Raghupathy and members of his family became the sole shareholders of the company and began to expand the range of product and services range in the power and oil and gas industries. On June 28, 2007 the company name was changed from GEA Energy System (India), to BGR Energy Systems.
