Book on 2G scam planned
29 Dec 2010
In an indication of the Congress party's concern over the 2G spectrum scam turning into a huge issue with the people, the party has started reaching out to its MPs, MLAs and workers in states, in a bid to bolster its dwindling image.
Union HRD minister, Kapil Sibal led an initiative to the end with an informal meeting with the Delhi state ministers, MPs and MLAs at the residence of chief minister Sheila Dikshit. He said there had been no wrongdoing from the party and party workers had no reason to be defensive on the 2G spectrum allocation scam issue. He pointed out that an ongoing probe would settle the matter.
Dikshit played host to Sibal, six cabinet ministers and about 30 MLAs at her residence as the HRD minister spoke about the issue.
The meeting was part of the Congress party's move to reach out to party workers and to bolster the confidence of the party's base workers by helping them to deal effectively with the situation with information. According to a senior party member, the briefing was detailed and helped them understand the nuances of the issue.
Meanwhile, in a belated exercise, the Congress party in Delhi is expected to come out with a booklet explaining the 'reality of the 2G spectrum issue' and how the Congress government at the centre had done nothing wrong.
According to the booklet, Congress leaders, would explain the 2G spectrum controversy in "detail" so that even an ordinary citizen could understand it.
