Burcote Wind to develop 10 wind farms across Scotland

Scottish, renewable energy developer Burcote Wind plans to set up 10 wind farms across Scotland, the first of which are expected to start generating power by 2015.
However, it first needs to secure over £1 billion to develop its renewable energy portfolio.
The company says around 110 permanent engineering and maintenance jobs could be created with the building phase supporting 475 construction jobs.
In the next 18 months Burcote plans to submit planning applications for sites at Meikleton in Aberdeenshire, Creggan in Argyll and Bute, as also two separate developments in Dumfries and Galloway.
Each of the 1o sites would generate over 50 MW, and require around 17 to 25 turbines.
The locations of its six other wind farms have still not be declared as these are at early stages of appraisal. Although Burcote would take the sites through the planning process it would then seek partners for securing investment needed for the building and operational phases.
