Cabinet approves NTPC's North Karanpura Super Thermal Power Project in Jharkhand

The cabinet committee on investment has cleared the power mionistry's proposed North Karanpura Super Thermal Power Plant,
The National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) will set up the with a 3 x 660 MW capacity power plant in the vicinity of Tandwa in the Chatra district in Jharkhand.
The committee also agreed to restore the original coal linkage for the project for which the coal supply would be made available in the 13th Plan.
The project to be set up by NTPC will be on a pit-head with environment-friendly super-critical technology. The power will be generated by NTPC for about 35 years of plant life.
Execution of the project would lead to generation of 1980 MW of power. This is Jharkhand's first NTPC project.
Azccording to ministry press release, safeguards according to the recommendation of the Chaturvedi Committee, accepted by the group of ministers, under the chairmanship of the finance minister will apply.
