CBI begins grilling Niira Radia in 2G spectrum probe
21 Dec 2010
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) today began questioning corporate lobbyist , after raiding her house and offices yesterday, in connection with the alleged irregularities in the telecom ministry's 2G radio spectrun allocation.
A spokesman for the CBI didn't give any details about Radia's interrogation.
The move comes a day after the agency sent a notice to former telecommunications minister Andimuthu Raja to appear before it for questioning.
In a departure from standard practice, the CBI questioned Radia at her South Delhi home. Usually, the CBI summons people for interrogation to its headquarters. This break from standard practice is apparently because Radia is a woman.
Her firm, Vaishnavi Communication, has said they will continue to cooperate in the ongoing probe.
Sources in the CBI said Radia was quizzed after incriminating details were found from her home. She could be booked for influencing a public person under the Corruption Act, reports said.
