CBI files status report on coal scam in the Supreme Court

The CBI has filed a status report on the coal block allocation scam probe giving up-to-date details of investigation that CBI has carried out till 25 August.
The status report, submitted in a sealed envelope, runs into 8 volumes. The CBI has also filed a report on the missing files in the coal scam. Hearing in the case will take place on Thursday.
Meanwhile, the CBI has sought the Supreme Court's permission to share its probe report with its prosecutor in the case.
CBI also told the apex court that no prior sanction for approval of government is necessary to initiate inquiry against government officials in the case. It also submitted a list of petitions seeking more powers for the CBI.
