CBI to quiz Raja again in 2G spectrum scam
18 Jul 2011
A Delhi court today permitted the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to quiz afresh former telecom minister A Raja and two others accused in the 2G spectrum scam, at the Patiala House court complex.
Special CBI judge O P Saini today allowed CBI, which is yet to file its second supplementary chargesheet in the case, to interrogate Raja, former telecom secretary Siddhartha Behura and Reliance ADAG Group MD Gautam Doshi for an hour each, in the lock up at the court complex.
The three accused would be brought to the Patiala House lock-up from the Tihar Jail, for questioning by the CBI for one hour each between 2 pm and 5 pm.
Earlier, the court had given its go ahead to the application of the investigating agency that it needed to question the accused afresh 'in the interest of the case'.
Former telecom minister A Raja had to resign from the union cabinet last year following the Comptroller and Auditor General of India (CAG) faulting him for undervaluing spectrum to favour companies who were largely ineligible for 2G spectrum.
The CAG added that the government had probably lost Rs1.76 lakh crore in estimated revenue.
