Cessna to partner Shenyang Aircraft to make planes in China

Mumbai: Aircraft maker Cessna will partner China''s Shenyang Aircraft Corporation (SAC) to manufacture its new model 162 SkyCatcher airplanes.

Shenyang is a subsidiary of China Aviation Industry Corporation I, a government-owned consortium of aircraft manufacturers.
 
Cessna will design the planes and handle American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) compliance work. SAC will be responsible for assembly. The light sport aircraft has an introductory price of $109,500 for the first 1,000 orders after which the price will increase to $111,500. The company says it already has 900 orders.
