Civil aviation ministry sets up working group to frame new regulations

A committee appointed by the civil aviation ministry today announced the setting up of a working group to suggest a regulatory framework to protect consumer interest, including disclosure of tariffs and conditions of service by domestic airlines.
The decision was announced at a meeting of the Civil Aviation Economic Advisory Council in pursuance of the decision taken in its first meeting held on 13 December 2010.
The new regulatory framework will also review conditions of service by domestic airlines.
The terms of reference for the working group include review of the existing system of passenger fare structuring of all scheduled domestic airlines and the manner in which the passenger fares are disclosed to public in the context of the reported difficulties of consumers in making an informed choice.
The group will identify areas where disclosure of tariffs and conditions of service by scheduled domestic airlines require further improvement in promoting transparency with a view to protect interest of consumers.
Based on its finding, the group will recommend measures to enhance transparency in the disclosure of tariffs and conditions of service relating to scheduled domestic airlines.
