HCC wins Rs275 crore NHAI contract

Mumbai: Leading construction and infrastructure development firm Hindustan Construction Company Ltd (HCC) has bagged a Rs275 crore highway development contract of the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI).

The contract relates to a 30-km stretch of National Highway 7 in Andhra Pradesh, and comes under the North-South corridor. It envisages design, construction, development, finance, operation and maintenance of the four-lane stretch between Kadtal and Armur on NH-7.

HCC has got NHAI's letter of acceptance with semi-annuity of Rs23.8 crores, to be paid in 36 installments over the next 18 years, excluding the construction period of two years. The company has a strong track record in construction of bridges, roads, highways, railways and mass rapid transport systems (MRTS).

It has been involved in the execution of prestigious projects including the Kolkata and Delhi MRTS projects, the Mumbai-Pune expressway, besides nearly 175 road bridges. The company is building 84 km of the historical Mughal Road, along with four major hydel power projects in Jammu & Kashmir.

It is also constructing the eight-lane, 4.6-km-long Bandra-Worli sea-link project in Mumbai. In Iraq, it has already built about 35 bridges. HCC's order book has more than doubled over the last one year, as it has won contracts in diverse sectors including transportation, nuclear and hydropower generation,water supply and irrigation.

The company has contributed to over 30 per cent of India's installed hydropower capacity, and has built over 45 dams, barrages and 15 powerhouses in India.
