Crude oil production falls 1.5 per cent in November

India's crude oil output fell in November, with Oil & Natural Gas Corp (ONGC), pumping 1.42 million tonnes from its Mumbai High fields which was 5.3 per cent less than a year earlier.
The third-biggest energy consuming economy in Asia produced 2.79 million tonnes of oil last month, which was 1.5 per cent less than a year earlier, the oil ministry said in a statement yesterday. Production by non-state explorers was up by 4.5 per cent to 458,000 tonnes, the government said.
Public sector entity ONGC produced 2.04 million tonnes of oil in November, a 3.5 per cent decline according to data.
The Mumbai High fields, 100 miles northwest of Mumbai in the Arabian Sea, account for about half of India's annual oil production. Meanwhile, India's natural gas output rose for the ninth straight month, increasing almost 48 per cent to 4.06 billion cubic meters, according to the data.
In April, Reliance Industries started pumping natural gas from the country's biggest field, D6 block in Krishna Godavari Basin, in April.
However, domestic refiners process 4.9 per cent more crude oil at 13.45 million tonne according to data.
