The Delhi high court issued a notice on Wednesday to former telecom minister A Raja and Kanimozhi, daughter of DMK leader M Karunanidhi, on a plea by the Enforcement Directorate, challenging their acquittal by a special court (See: 2G verdict may see host of telcos suing Centre).
On 20 March the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) moved the Delhi High Court on Tuesday just a day after the Enforcement Directorate (ED) filed an appeal challenging the acquittal of former telecom minister A Raja and DMK MP Kanimozhi in the 2G scam.
The court also issued another notice to both of them relating to a plea by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) challenging the acquittal by the special court in the 2G spectrum allocation case.
The high court ruled that status quo would be maintained with regard to properties attached by the ED in the Prevention of Money Laundering Act case.
Both the ED and the CBI had challenged the special court orders acquitting the accused – including Raja and Kanimozhi – in the cases. The ED in its charge sheet had accused Kalaignar TV, owned by the DMK, of having got Rs200 crore from Swan Telecom, which had obtained the 2G licence (

CBI, ED challenge acquittal of Raja, Kanimozhi in Delhi HC).
The CBI alleged a loss of more than Rs30,000 crore to the national exchequer following the allocation of 2G licences. The Supreme Court had scrapped the licences in 2012.
