The Delhi High Court today stayed the bail granted to R K Chandolia, erstwhile private secretary of jailed former telecom minister A Raja and a co-accused in 2G spectrum case.

A bench of justice V K Shali stayed the grant of bail after taking suo motu congnisance of media reports in that regard.

Chandolia, who was granted bail yesterday by a special CBI court, is already out of Tihar jail. (See: Raja's private secretary Chandolia granted bail in 2G case)

The CBI had, yesterday, opposed Chandolia's bail plea saying that he along with Raja and the then telecom secretary Siddhartha Behuria were at the core of the 2G spectrum scam and that Chandolia may tamper with evidence once he gets access to the department of telecom.

Chandolia, who has been in jail since his arrest on 2 February 2011, was yesterday granted bail on furnishing a personal bond of Rs3 lakh and two sureties of a like amount.

Special CBI court Judge O P Saini had granted bail to Chandolia, despite the CBI's opposition, on the ground that his case could not be ''equated with'' those of Raja and Behuria, the main accused, who are now the only persons left in judicial custody in the 2G spectrum case.
