The Delhi High Court today reserved the interim bail plea of former Samajwadi party leader Amar Singh till 24 October in the 2008 cash-for-votes scam.

The likelihood of the Rajya Sabha member being granted bail appeared to have brightened with the Delhi police counsel favouring the grating of conditional bail to him if he fulfilled certain conditions, one being he would not leave the country and the other being that he would not tamper with evidence.

The High Court, deferring the hearing till today, yesterday, after counsel for Delhi Police sought an adjournment of the matter as its senior counsel arguing the matter was not available, decided to hear both the applications of Amar Singh at 2.15 pm today.

Justice Ajit Bharihoke, who retired last week, had on 12 October adjourned the matter till 18 October after the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) submitted Singh's medical report.

The court accepting the reports said it needed time to go through it.

The report of AIIMS, where  Singh is admitted, stated that he was in need of constant medical monitoring.
