Diesel price for bulk users up; non-subsidised LPG to cost Rs37.50 less

State-run oil marketing companies have increased the price of diesel supplied to bulk consumers such as railway and state road transport undertakings by nearly a rupee per litre, while keeping retail prices of diesel at the pumps unchanged.
The move comes a day after PSU oil marketing companies hiked the price of petrol by Rs1.40 per litre (excluding taxes), effective midnight of 1-2 March.
While the price hike is around 94 paise per litre, the effective increase, including local sales tax or VAT, could be as high as Rs1.25 per litre, industry sources said.
OMCs also announced a Rs37.50 per cylinder reduction in the price of non-subsidised domestic cooking gas (LPG) that consumers buy beyond their quota of 9 subsidised cylinders.
Neither the retail prices of diesel sold through petrol pumps nor the rate for subsidised LPG cylinders has been changed.
The government had in January allowed state-run oil firms to sell diesel to all consumers taking supplies from their installations at market price.
