Gionee announces new smartphone only 5.5 mm thick

Gionee has announced a new smartphone only 5.5 mm thick, which makes it the thinnest phone in the world. The phone, named Elife S5.5, would cost around $370 (or about Rs23,000) in China. The company would also launch the phone in 40 other countries that have not been specified so far.
The Gionee Elife S5.5 would feature a 5 inch screen and come with an Android-based Amigo OS. It would have an octa-core 1.7 GHz processor and 2 GB of RAM, with a good looking 13 MP rear camera and a 5 MP front camera.
Also there would be a 2,300 mAh battery in the phone and as per reports, Gionee also had plans to launch an LTE version of the phone this June.
The ELife S5.5 comes with a 5-inch Full HD Super AMOLED plus screen, a true octa-core 1.7GHz processor and would use the company's "Amigo" Android-based OS in the device.
The company would launch the phone in 40 countries with the Gionee brand and ODM partners in Q2 of 2014.
The device can be pre-ordered at roughly $370 as per its China page.
