Sanmina-SCI inaugurates Chennai manufacturing site

US-based electronics manufacturing services Sanmina-SCI Corporation today said that with the formal inauguration of its state-of-the-art technology manufacturing campus in the Oragadam Hi-Tech special economic zone (SEZ) near Chennai, yesterday, it had expanded its footprint in the country ever since its entry to Tamil Nadu in 2003, when it established its Chennai IT Center to support Sanmina-SCI's global IT systems.
Sanmina-SCI is a leading electronics contract manufacturer serving the fastest-growing segments of the global electronics manufacturing services market.
In India, it caters to OEM customers in communications, enterprise computing and storage, defence and aerospace, medical, renewable energy and multimedia markets. Its services encompass design and engineering, supply chain management, PCB assembly and full system assembly.
Sanmina-SCI's investments in Tamil Nadu began in 2003, with the formation of the Chennai IT Center to support Sanmina-SCI's global IT systems.
It commenced manufacturing operations in 2007 from an interim facility, when it signed a MoU with the state government for the acquisition of the Oragadam campus.
The company hasd now consolidated all manufacturing operations at the new 100-acre Oragadam campus, where it has a head count of 1,500
