Former CAG Vinod Rai dismises criticism of 2G loss report

Dismissing criticism of the 2G loss report, former comptroller and auditor general Vinod Rai, in his first TV interview after retirement, told Karan Thapar of CNN IBN that the CAG's coalgate report was based on facts.

He pointed out that the CAG had taken conservative approach in the calculation of coalgate losses and had followed all guidelines and norms in the calculation.

He pointed out he was not worried about the negative observations of his report on 2G adding that the government had nothing personal against him.

He said the CAG decided to get a peer review done from the auditor general of another country. He said the auditor general of Australia constituted a team of 14 people drawn from Australia, the UK, the US, Canada, the Netherlands, and Denmark and they had not found any fault with the auditing framework of the CAG's report.
