Foundation stone for Indira Gandhi super thermal power project laid in Haryana

On completion this thermal power project will be the biggest power station in Haryana supplying power to the states of national capital Region of Delhi and Haryana.
The 1500 MW power project will executed by Aravali Power Company Private Limited (APCPL) a joint venture between NTPC Limited, Haryana Power Generation Corporation Ltd.(HPGCL) and Indraprastha Power Generation Company Ltd.(IPGCL).
Spread over 2200 acres, the project will have 3 units of 500 MW each and is scheduled to be commissioned by 2010 -11 at an estimated cost of approximately Rs7,892 crore.
This
project will use drum type boilers with single reheat steam turbines to achieve
higher efficiency and closed cycle cooling water system with natural draft cooling
towers with a 275-metre high chimney.
