Fuel prices hiked again: petrol, diesel, LPG, kerosene and ATF to cost more

State-owned oil marketing companies on Saturday hiked the price of subsidised cooking gas, or LPG and kerosene along with the prices of petrol, diesel and aviation turbine fuel.
Petrol prices have been increased by Rs1.29 per litre while diesel prices have been increased by 97 paise. Along with VAT, the actual price hike may go up by Rs1.66 per litre for petrol and Rs1.44 a litre for diesel in Delhi.
Previously, the petrol price was hiked by Rs2.21 per litre and Rs1.79 per litre on 17 December (exclusive of local levies). This is the third hike in petrol prices in a month and the second for diesel in a fortnight.
A subsidised 14.2 kg cylinder of cooking gas has become costlier by Rs2 to Rs434.71 in Delhi, against Rs432.71 earlier. Oil marketing companies have raised cooking gas cylinder prices for seven consecutive months.
The three state-owned OMCs revise prices of LPG, kerosene, petrol, diesel and ATF on the first and 15th of every month, based on global oil prices and the foreign exchange rate.
In a move to reduce its LPG subsidy outgo, the government, in July, had decided on small hikes of around Rs2 per cylinder every month. The price of non-subsidised LPG, which consumers buy after exhausting their quota of 12 cylinders in a year, was also hiked on Saturday by Re1 to Rs585.
Kerosene will became dearer by 26 paisa to Rs19.43 per litre in Kolkata.
Prices of ATF, or jet fuel, will be go up by 8.60 per cent to Rs52,540.63 per kl in Delhi. Prices vary at airports depending on local taxes.
