With companies in the tech sector now increasingly looking to diversify their portfolio of offerings action is hotting up among players, especially in fast growth sectors like telecom.

Close on the heels of PC maker Dell and Japanese consumer electronics major Sharp entering the Indian handset market, Best IT has decided to follow the lead launching seven categories of mobile phones under its iBall brand.

With its offerings under the famous brand, the company has introduced handsets in seven different categories namely Shaan, Waterproof, Sleec, Flip, Posh, Touch and Senior. The products have been crafted to cater to the requirements of different sections of Indian consumers, spanning across age groups and income brackets.

''All iBall products are unique in blending technology with design, aesthetics and innovation. Our range of mobile phones combines these three attributes even better, in a highly cost-efficient manner,'' said Sandeep Parasampuria, director, Best IT World (India).

iBall Senior category of handsets have been especially designed keeping the needs of senior citizens in mind with large font size, elevated sound  quality and a distinctive SOS button. The amber-hued handset has been crafted to allow users to seek immediate help when required. All users have to do at such times is to press the dedicated key for seven seconds to sound a siren. Simultaneously, the hand set also automatically dispatches messages to five pre-defined numbers which it automatically dials one by one until the call is attended.

Explaining further Parasampuria said, ''Based on in-depth research, we have introduced features like SOS button for senior citizens, we have also designed waterproof handsets considering the Indian weather and life style of working Indians. iBall will be the first brand in Indian mobile phone market to come out with a very clear cut segmented strategy for mobile phones. Through this segmented strategy the brand will be looking at different segment demographics, consumer preferences and specialized requirements.''
