HC directs former Karnataka CM to produce copy of Lokayukta report on illegal mining

Former Karnataka chief minister B S Yeddyurappa was today directed by the Karnataka High Court to produce a copy of the Lokayukta report on illegal mining, on his petition seeking quashing of the report which had indicted him.
The petition came up before a division bench of justices K L Manjunath and H S Kempanna. The bench adjourned it to 10 August.
On 2 August, Yeddyurappa had filed a petition seeking quashing of chapter 22 of the Lokayukta report in which he had been indicated for accepting a Rs10-crore donation from a mining firm and for sale of land to another mining firm at an "exorbitant" price by his family.
In his petition, Yeddyurappa contends that the references pertaining to him in the Lokayukta report were beyond the terms of reference set for the anti-corruption watchdog to investigate illegal mining from 2000 to 19 July, 2010.
The Lokayukta report on illegal mining sparked a political storm in the state, which led to Yeddyurappa's resignation as chief minister.
Meanwhile fresh trouble hit Yeddyurappa today with the special lokayukta court issuing summons to him on a private complaint alleging that 5.41 acres of land was denotified for the benefit of his family members.
