HTC’s Android powered smartphone Wifire debuts in India

HTC, the Taiwan-based manufacturer of smartphones has finally announced the launch of its much awaited mid-range Android phone, the HTC Wildfire, an upgrade to HTC's current mid range offering in India, the HTC Tattoo.

The phone features a 3.2-inch capacitive touchscreen capable of QVGA resolution. The phone's number-crunching capability is provided by a 528 Mhz processor that with 348MB RAM and 512MB of ROM that provides decent performance.

It has a relatively powerful 1350mAH battery that, experts say, should offer decent backup time under moderate usage.

The imaging part is taken care of by a 5MB camera with LED flash.

The phone comes with a host of connectivity features with the support for USB, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth as well. Other features supported include FM radio and a digital compass.

For navigating through the menu the phone comes with an optical joystick and has an microSD car slot to expand its limited memory.
