India and Canada's Ontario province to cooperate in mining and geology

India and Ontario, a Canadian province, have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to boost cooperation and investment in the field of geology and mineral resources. India's minister of mines and development of north-eastern region BK Handique and Ontario government's minister of mines Michael Gravelle signed the agreement in Toronto, Canada yesterday.
Speaking on the occasion, Handique said the MoU will promote investment in the field of mining and mining related activities, mineral exploration and exploitation and to encourage and foster mining investment, transfer of technology in areas of interest and joint ventures in India and Ontario.
"We are formalising a framework of cooperation concerning geology and mineral resources on subjects of mutual interest," he added.
India and Canada had signed a MoU, on 27 June, during the recent visit of prime minister Manmohan Singh to Canada.
