07 Oct 2010
Bangalore: India has emerged as an attractive tourist destination with an increasing number of multi-national hospitality companies investing in India to cash in on the rising hotel occupancy levels.
With the sector expected to grow at 15 per cent per year, the industry is exploring the latest customer-centric next generation technologies. Already, India's hotel pipeline is the second largest in the Asia-Pacific region and the industry is set to be the second largest employer in the world by 2019.
It is also estimated that the hospitality industry in India will contribute $187.3 billion to the GDP by 2019.
Since guests checking in to hotels with high levels of service expectations, the industry's biggest challenge currently is maintaining a balance of achieving a healthy bottom line while enhancing the guest experience, creating guest loyalty and attracting new guests with a favourable guest-centric environment.
According to a recent survey conducted by hospitality promotions body, IQPC, over 50 per cent of respondents spend the bulk of their IT budgets on in-room entertainment as a way to stay ahead of their competitors.
In an effort to contribute to the growth of the hotel industry in India and drive innovation, IQPC will launch Hotel Technology India 2010, on 11 and 12 November 2010 in Goa to provide a platform to explore latest technologies for the hotel industry in order to maximise revenue and enhance guest experience.
Hotel Technology India 2010, will bring together experts from across the globe to discuss new strategies and trends to implement state-of-the art solutions. One of the attendees of IQPC's hotel technology events, the CIO of Movenpick Hotels and Resorts Management said that "Hotel Technology 2010 is an excellent forum for information exchange and to keep up to date about hotel technology challenges".
