India’s textile industry seen growing to a size of $350 bn by 2030

India’s textile industry is expected to have a turnover of around $350 billion by 2030, providing employment to 35 million people, union minister for textiles Giriraj Singh said at an event in New Delhi on Thursday.
Singh was speaking during the `curtain raiser’ of ‘Bharat Tex 2025’ where over 5,000 exhibitors and 6,000 international buyers from over 110 countries are expected to attend.
He also expressed the hope that the textile industry will be able to create a `Bharat Brand’ with sustainable products, catering to a greener world.
Singh said the PLI scheme being implemented by the government while enhancing production, will also promote branding of Indian textile products and bring about better linkages in the textile value chain.
An international textiles event, Bharat Tex 2025 is being organized by a consortium of Textile Export Promotion Councils (EPCs) with support from the ministry of textiles is scheduled to be held from 14 to 17 February 2025.
The event will be held simultaneously at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi and the India Expo Centre and Mart in Greater Noida. The expo, spanning an area of 200,000 square meters, will cover the entire value chain of textiles, including like apparels, home furnishings, floor coverings, fibers, yarns, threads, fabrics, carpets, silk as well as textiles based handicrafts, garment machinery, ethnic apparel etc.
The event will see participation of over 5,000 exhibitors, 6,000 international buyers from over 110 countries and over 1, 20,000 visitors.
