When Samsung and LG unveiled its Galaxy Round and G Flex smartphones, there was much curiosity about the actual smartphone, but the USP of both these devices was their curved display. Galaxy Round was curved horizontally while the G Flex had a vertical curvature, with both these devices receiving their share of appreciation and criticism.
Now, Intex has launched a smartphone with curved display, making it the first Indian company to do so. The company has officially unveiled the Aqua Curve smartphone that comes with a 5-inch One Glass Solution display featuring curve on it.
The display has a resolution of 540x960 pixels, with a curved glass covering. The device comes with a 1.3GHz Quad-Core processor coupled with 1GB RAM and 4GB ROM. It has an 8MP rear camera and a 2MP front-facing camera.
The device is Dual SIM-enabled and comes with 3G on board. It runs on the latest Android 4.2 Jelly Bean Operating System.
However, according to some commentators, it was not a truly curved display like the galaxy Round or the G Flex, but the display screen only had curved end, but the company prefers to call the phone Aqua Curve.
The device is powered by a MediaTek MTK6582 quad-core processor clocked at 1.3 GHz with a 1 GB RAM.
The 3G phone comes with 4GB internal memory expandedable up to 32 GB with a micro SDcard. The phone draws power from a 2000 mAh battery.
An interesting features of the handset is the manner in which it takes a screenshot. Users need to only shake the phone for it to take a screen shot.
The Aqua Curve will be available in Blue, Red and Black colour variants and comes with a price tag of Rs12,490.
Other phones in the segment include the A114 Canvas 2.2 from Micromax sporting a 1.3 GHz MediaTek MT6582M quad-core processor and 1 GB RAM. This handset is priced at Rs 11700.
