Italian eye-wear major Luxottica is venturing into the Indian market and plans to set up 100 exclusive outlets by 2015. It's retail brand Sunglass Hut will have exclusive showrooms.
The retail chain has entered into a franchisee agreement with realty major DLF's retail management arm DLF Brands.
"We started with the first store in Delhi this week and our plan is to have at least 100 exclusive outlets by the end of 2015. Our outlets would have an exclusive sunglass concept and no other eye-year or accessory would be available in them," Sunglass Hut India Brand Head Pradeep Bhanot said.
He said the company would have a range of over 1,000 varieties of the 24-odd brands in its outlets.
"There are brands like Tiffany and Persol which will be introduced for the first time in the Indian market. Our sunglasses will have a price range of Rs 2,600 to Rs 50,000," Bhanot added.
He said the company is looking at both high street and malls for setting up business and added that besides DLF's malls, the company would venture into other places also.
The company, which has 2,000 outlets worldwide, is first seeking to penetrate the metros and Tier I cities, before looking at smaller places. "Our stores would have an average area of 700-800 square feet," Bhanot said.
