Karunanidhi happy as daughter gets bail

An elated DMK chief M Karunanidhi expressed happiness over Kanimozhi today getting bail in the 2G case, and said the party would organise a big welcome for her when she arrives in Chennai.
''She spoke to me soon after the court gave her bail and both of us shared the happiness,'' Karunanidhi told reporters in the Tamil Nadu capital.
Kanimozhi, a Rajya Sabha MP, and four others were today granted bail by the Delhi High Court.
Karunanidhi, patriarch of the Tamil Nadu-based DMK party, has camped in Delhi whenever there were hopes of his daughter getting bail. He has been frequently accompanied by his wife (a major owner of Kalaignar TV) and other family and party members.
On what would be Kanimozhi's position in the DMK, Karunanidhi said, ''I am not an autocrat. The party will decide on giving new position to Kanimozhi.''
Former telecom minister Andimuthu Raja (also a DMK leader), his former personal secretary R K Chandolia, and DB Realty promoter Shahid Usman Balwa are also yet to move the high court against the trial court's 3 November order rejecting their bail pleas.
Raja had said on Friday that he would await the outcome of the others' bail pleas before filing his own.
Karunanidhi said Raja had Raja spoken to him, and ''I will discuss about his bail.''
