Lanco Solar to set up 75 megawatt solar PV plant in Maharashtra

Lanco Solar, fully owned subsidiary of Hyderabad-based energy and infrastructure company Lanco Infratech, today said it will set up a 75- megawatt solar photovoltaic plant in Maharashtra along with Germany's Juwi Holding AG.
In a consortium with Juwi Renewable India Ltd, Lanco Solar, has received a contract from Maharashtra State Power Generation Co Ltd (Mahagenco) for building a 75-megawatt photovoltaic solar power project at Dhule in the state, the company said.
The project, valued at Rs884.18 crore, will be fully commissioned by mid February 2012, it added.
''It is a strategic win for us. Not only it puts us firmly as the top solar power developer in the country but also helps us considerably in securing our supply chain competitively,'' said V Saibaba, CEO, Lanco Solar.
Lanco Solar is also building a couple of solar PV based projects in Gujarat and Rajasthan.
The company is executing a 100-megawatt solar thermal project in Rajasthan. It has also commissioned its first 5-megawatt project in Gujarat from the overall capacity of 35-megawatt it is developing in the state.
