Logitech unveils washable keyboard

Keyboards as anyone who has used them would know are veritable dirt magnets attracting everything from particles of dust, grime, crumbs, and just about everything that can stick, clog, smudge the keys and other parts. And, given that these PC accessories are not particularly wash-friendly, most people find it a bother to give them a regular clean-up.

But engineers at Logitech have come up with a smart solution to the problem. The company's Washable Keyboard K310, unveiled today, takes to a wash like a duck takes to water.

It can be rinsed in the kitchen sink or wiped with a wet cloth. And that is not all, it can also be submerged up to 11 feet, and it dries easily, too.

Logitech says the keyboard can take plenty of washing and use and for good measure characters are laser-printed and UV-coated so that they do not fade after a clean-up. The keyboard comes with holes in the back to allow water to escape easily, and air enter, to dry every part. The keyboard, which is also simple to set up - plug in and work, is compatible with Windows XP, Windows Vista and Windows 7.
