Marriott International was ranked the top hotel chain in BusinessWeek magazines' first hotel survey covering nearly 1,200 subscribers. The magazine, in its issue dated October 27, 2003, cited Marriott as "the winner by a wide margin." BusinessWeek also reported subscribers also chose 'Marriott Rewards' as their favourite loyalty programme.

The survey also found that the hotel's high-speed internet access as one of the most important services for business travellers. Marriott has more than 1,000 hotels offering high-speed internet access world-wide.

In 2003, Marriott added more than 31,000 hotel rooms and timeshare units bringing the global system to 2,718 hotels and timeshare units translating into 490,564 rooms. Nearly one-third of these rooms came from new hotels joining 'Marriott Rewards'.

Best Rates Guarantee On January 1, 2004, Marriott launched a guaranteed discount best rate offer called, 'Look No Further Best Rate' programme.

This programme guarantees customers a 25 per cent discount, if within 24-hours of checking-in at a hotel, through this programme, they come across a better rate for the same room-type at a similar hotel in the city of their stay.

The guarantee ensures that customers receive the best available room rate at approximately 2,500 hotels world-wide when booking through any Marriott reservations channel, under the Marriott World-wide Reservations.
