MECON bags TN power project contract

Chennai: The public sector, Metallurgical and Engineering Consultants (MECON) has bagged contracts for 2 x 500 MW Power Plant in Tamil Nadu, being promoted jointly by the Neyveli Lignite Corporation (NLC) and the Tamil Nadu Electricity Board (TNEB).
MECON will provide detailed engineering and consultancy from concept to commissioning for two units of 500 MW each to be set up at Tuticorin. This is for the first time that MECON will provide consultancy for power projects of 500 MW capacity.
Earlier MECON had also provided similar service to the NLC for its 2 x 210 MW expansion programme that was successfully completed in 2003.
Some of MECON''s well-known clients include National Aluminum Company (NALCO), Damodar Valley Corporation (DVC), besides private sector companies like Jindal Steel & Power, Bhushan Steel and Adhunik Group.
In an effort to enable it to offer state of the art technology, MECON has signed a cooperation agreement with internationally renowned consultancy organisation, AF - Enprima of Finland for joint working in power sector consultancy in India. .
With
the business in power sector rising, MECON is preparing
a road map to develop its Strategic Business Unit further.
The power plant division at Ranchi is being augmented
with more resources and latest design softwares to facilitate
better and timely services to the valued customers.
