MercedesTrophy 2008: Swinging Times ahead

The eighth edition of MercedesTrophy in India was formally launched today by Dr Wilfred Aulbur, CEO and managing director of DaimlerChrysler India.
The event also marked the unveiling of the exquisite trophy with a crystal ball on a tee, specially designed and crafted by Swarovski.
Present at the event were the presenting sponsor of the tournament: Ashish Gumashta, Managing Director-Investments, DSP Merrill Lynch Global Private Client; along with cosponsors Werner Ploner, Managing Director, Swarovski India and Aditya Khullar, Manager Marketing India , Swiss International Air Lines Ltd. Rishi Narain from Rishi Narain Golf Management, event manager for the tournament was also present.
With remarkable success of the first seven editions of the event in India, the MercedesTrophy 2008 promises that precision drives, smooth putts and sound swing mechanics will be the order of the day as players compete against fellow golfers in three distinct handicap divisions.
The winners and runner-up will be selected for each category at the three regional qualifier tournaments (Northern and Eastern regionals at Delhi on 16 and 17 February 2008, Western regionals at Mumbai on 23 and 24 February 2008; Southern regionals at Bangalore on 8 March 2008).
The winners and runners-up for each category from each of the regional rounds will be special guests of DaimlerChrysler India at the prestigious MercedesTrophy National Final which will be played at Pune on 16 March, 2008.

The Mercedes Trophy is an exclusive tournament for discerning Mercedes-Benz owners and the three lucky winners at the National Finals, along with their spouses, will get a unique chance to participate at the Mercedes Trophy World Final 2008 at Stuttgart, Germany, which is an annual congregation of the finest-proven players and Mercedes-Benz enthusiasts.
