Oil marketing companies have announced a Rs46.50 per cylinder increase in the price of non-subsidised cooking gas (LPG) after the government on Friday unveiled measures to trim its oil subsidy bill.

''The price of domestic non-subsidised cylinders over and above five subsidised cylinders for FY 2012-13 shall stand increased by Rs.46.50 per cylinder,'' state-run Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) said in a release on Friday.

Accordingly, consumers will have to pay Rs942 per 14.2-kg LPG cylinder once they exhaust the quota of 9 subsidised bottles in a year.

With the government raising the number of subsidised LPG cylinders to nine a year, OMCs have agreed to increase the entitlement of subsidised domestic LPG cylinders till March 2013 from 3 to 5.

However, OMCs will not make any refund on any LPG domestic cylinder already supplied at non-subsidised price during the period between 14 September 2012 till date, Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) said in a release.

For FY 2013-14, the entitlement of subsidised domestic LPG cylinder will go up from 6 to 9.
