Petrol price hiked by Rs3.07 a litre, diesel to cost Rs1.90 more per litre

State-run oil marketing companies have announced an increase in the retail selling price of petrol by Rs3.07 per litre and that of diesel by Rs1.90 per litre, effective midnight tonight amidst a hardening of global oil prices.

With the latest price hike, Indian Oil Corp said, petrol in Delhi will cost Rs59.68 per litre while diesel will cost Delhi    48.33 a litre,

While petrol prices will go up by Rs3.07 per litre and that of diesel by Rs1.90 per litre, the actual prices will vary from state to state depending on local taxes, Indian Oil Corporation stated in a release.

The current level of international product prices of 'petrol and diesel and rupee-dollar exchange rate warrant increase in price of petrol and diesel, the impact of which is being passed on to the consumers with this price revision, IOC stated.

The movement of prices in the international oil market and rupee-dollar exchange rate will continue to be monitored closely and developing trends of the market will be reflected in future price changes, it added.

With this revision, unbranded petrol in Mumbai will cost Rs 65.79  per litre while it will cost Rs63.68 a litre in Kolkota and Rs 59.13 a litre in Chennai.

Diesel (unbranded) will cost Rs55.06 a litre in Mumbai, Rs50.75 a litre in Kolkata and Rs49.09 a litre in Chennai.
