PM to stress India’s record at Seoul Nuclear Summit

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh today left for a four-day visit to South Korea where he will attend the Nuclear Security Summit in Seoul along with 57 other world leaders.
Singh said in a pre-departure statement that apart from unveiling steps taken by India to combat nuclear terrorism, he would also underline India's continuing support to a world free from nuclear weapons.
US President Barak Obama too is en route to Seoul for the summit, the aim of which is to focus the attention of countries with official nuclear capabilities on the threat posed by nuclear terrorism.
Thus the focus is likely to be on the two 'rogue' states of North Korea and Iran, both of which are suspected by the West of seeking to develop nuclear weapons.
Other heads of state due to attend include Russian President Dmitry Medvedev and Chinese President Hu Jintao, as well as the heads of other established nuclear powers like the UK, France, and Israel.
Pakistan Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani is also travelling to Seoul and reports from Islamabad said he was likely to meet Singh on the sidelines of summit.
