Prime Focus bags Rs200-crore multi picture Hollywood order
29 Nov 2010
Prime Focus has received a Rs200 crore multi-picture order for 2D to 3D stereoscopic conversion work from a leading Hollywood studio. The work has to be executed over the next 30-36 months, Prime Focus said in a filing with the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE).
The company did not name the films or the studios, which awarded the contract.
The current order comes after successful completion of the work of Avtar, Clash of the Titans, Cats and Dogs, My Soul to Take, Narnia and other, the company said in its filing.
Prime Focus uses its View-D proprietary technology for conversion of moving 2D images to stereo 3D images. It offers many advantages over alternative conversion methods, including superior quality of converted imagery, significantly shorter production timeframes, more iterations and control over virtually every pixel in the frame, the company said in its filing.
Prime Focus relies on its artists who have the experience and talent of working in feature films and who can guide them through the created 3D workspace. Filmmakers can communicate their creative vision to them for advice.
For new productions, View-D gives filmmakers a viable alternative to shooting with twin cameras, offering the flexibility to shoot film or digital, to move the camera as they wish, and to work with Prime Focus artists between the cut and the stereo conversion to make the 3D viewing experience as rich as possible.
