Pune-based web and mobile application development company, Webonise Lab said it will launch its India-specific mobile app store for Android phone users, AppBazar, by the first week of April.

AppBazar will be feature apps specially created for the Indian audiences such as Aarti Sangrah, Indian Panchang among others. These apps will also be made available in vernacular languages, the company said.

''Our target is the tier I, II and III cities. With mobile manufacturers joining hands with Android to woo the common Indian user, there is a huge opportunity for the development of India specific content,'' said Shardul Mohite, CEO, Webonise Lab.

The company has also rolled out a developer contest targeting students, freelancers, platform enthusiasts and Android app development community, encouraging them to build India-specific Android applications. The contest began on 26 January and will continue till March.

With AppBazar, the company says it expects to provide an ecosystem for the developers and ISV's (independent software vendors) in India to tap the booming Indian market with content that is Indian in taste.
